In 2003, 13-year-old Tabitha Tuders disappeared while walking to her middle school bus stop in east Nashville.
Police are not talking about the details of the lead, but said they want to find a man named Juan and question him.
Tuders’ case has never lacked for suspects, but there has been a lack of evidence.
“You have to have a direction. There simply is no direction,” former Metro Det. Pat Postiglione told Channel 4 in 2012. “Absolutely zero evidence that has surfaced. There may be some out there. We haven’t located it yet.”
Tuders was last seen walking down a hill at 14th Street and Boscobel Street. A young boy said he saw her get into a red car.
In 2014, that boy, now a young man, came forward and told police he saw Tuders get in a bright green car with a cobra on it.
Police pursued the green Mustang lead.
“I’ve really hit dead ends on that,” Doug Jolley, a Metro cold case detective, said in 2015. “The address I was given where he potentially lived had been sold about a year after his disappearance.”
Another year has passed and police want to talk to a man known only as Juan. Police said he owned both a green car and a red car at the time of Tuders’ disappearance.
Police have not released the man's last name, but shared a photo of him around the time Tuders disappeared.
Bo Tuders, Tabitha Tuders’ father, said he has been at this too long to get his hopes up, but said the lead is promising. He added it is good to know that police are still working to find his daughter.
